Introduction

Due to ongoing concerns about water scarcity and the need for sustainable water management, Highland Park has implemented new water restrictions for 2024. These measures aim to ensure that our community uses water resources responsibly while maintaining essential services. The following guidelines outline the specific restrictions and exemptions that residents and businesses must adhere to.

  • Schedule:
    • Odd-numbered addresses: Tuesdays and Saturdays
    • Even-numbered addresses: Wednesdays and Sundays

  • Fountains and Water Features: Operation of decorative fountains and water features is prohibited unless they recirculate water.
Exceptions
  • New Landscaping: Newly planted lawns and landscaping are exempt from restrictions for the first 30 days after planting.
  • Drip Irrigation Systems: These systems are exempt from the twice-per-week watering limit but must be used within the allowed hours.

Commercial Water Use

Penalties for Non-Compliance

Non-compliance with these water restrictions will result in penalties, including:

  • First Offense: Written warning
  • Second Offense: $50 fine
  • Subsequent Offenses: $100 fine per violation

Tips for Water Conservation

  • Fix Leaks: Ensure all faucets, toilets, and irrigation systems are leak-free.
  • Efficient Fixtures: Install low-flow showerheads, faucets, and toilets.
  • Smart Irrigation: Use weather-based irrigation controllers to prevent overwatering during rainy periods.

These water restrictions are crucial for ensuring sustainable water usage in Highland Park. By adhering to these guidelines, residents and businesses contribute to the conservation of our precious water resources.
