2024 Pantego TX Water Restrictions

In response to ongoing drought conditions and the need for sustainable water management, the town of Pantego, TX has issued new water restrictions for 2024. These measures are designed to ensure that all residents and businesses contribute to conserving our precious water resources.

Key Restrictions

1. Outdoor Watering
  • Allowed Days: Outdoor watering is permitted only on designated days. Residents with even-numbered addresses can water on Tuesdays and Saturdays, while those with odd-numbered addresses can water on Wednesdays and Sundays.
  • Times: Watering is only allowed between 6 AM to 10 AM and 6 PM to 10 PM to minimize evaporation.
  • Duration: Each session should not exceed 30 minutes.
2. Car Washing
  • At Home: Car washing at home is discouraged. If necessary, it should be done using a bucket or a hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle.
  • Commercial Car Washes: Residents are encouraged to use commercial car washes, which are more water-efficient.
3. Swimming Pools
  • Filling Pools: The filling or refilling of swimming pools is restricted. Pools can only be filled or topped off on the same schedule as outdoor watering.
  • Covers: Pool covers should be used when pools are not in use to reduce evaporation.
4. Gardens and Landscapes
  • Hand Watering: Hand watering of plants and gardens is allowed any day, but only with a watering can or a hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle.
  • Mulching: Residents are encouraged to use mulch to retain soil moisture and reduce the need for frequent watering.
5. Public Spaces
  • Parks and Playgrounds: Watering of public parks and playgrounds will follow the same schedule as residential watering.
  • Sports Fields: Special permits may be issued for the maintenance of sports fields, but strict guidelines will apply.

Exemptions

Certain water uses are exempt from these restrictions:

  • Health and Safety: Watering of livestock and other health and safety-related needs.
  • New Landscaping: Newly installed landscaping may be watered more frequently for the first 30 days after installation.

Enforcement

Compliance with these restrictions is mandatory, and violations will result in penalties:

  • First Offense: Warning notice.
  • Second Offense: $50 fine.
  • Subsequent Offenses: Fines up to $200 per violation.

By adhering to these water restrictions, we can all play a part in preserving our water resources for future generations. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to sustainable water use.
