Exceptions

These systems may be used outside of the restricted hours but should be limited to avoid overuse.

  • Hand Watering:

Hand watering with a hose equipped with a shutoff nozzle is permitted at any time.

  • New Landscaping:

Newly installed landscapes may be watered as necessary for the first 30 days after installation. However, residents are encouraged to follow a more stringent schedule if possible.

Enforcement

The city will be monitoring compliance with these restrictions and issuing fines for violations:

  • First Violation: Warning
  • Second Violation: $100 fine
  • Third Violation: $500 fine

Why are These Restrictions Necessary?

Montgomery, TX is committed to ensuring a sustainable water supply for all residents. Due to lower-than-average rainfall and higher consumption rates, these restrictions are essential to:

  • Conserve Water:

Every drop saved helps maintain our water reservoirs and aquifers.

  • Prevent Water Shortages:

Ensuring there is enough water for essential uses, including drinking and sanitation.

  • Sustain the Environment:

Protecting local ecosystems that depend on our water sources.

How You Can Help

In addition to following the mandated water restrictions, here are some tips to further conserve water:

  • Fix Leaks:

Check faucets, pipes, and hoses for leaks and repair them promptly.

  • Use Efficient Fixtures:

Install water-saving showerheads and low-flow toilets.
