As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable water management and conservation, the City of Frisco is implementing new water restrictions for 2024. These measures aim to ensure the efficient use of water resources and to safeguard the environment for future generations. Please take note of the following guidelines and adhere to them strictly.

Outdoor Watering Schedule

Residential Properties
  • Odd-Numbered Addresses: Watering is allowed on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
  • Even-Numbered Addresses: Watering is allowed on Thursdays and Sundays.
  • Time Restrictions: Watering is permitted only between 6 PM and 10 AM to minimize evaporation losses.
Commercial Properties
  • Designated Days: Watering is allowed on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • Time Restrictions: Watering is allowed only between 6 PM and 10 AM.
Public Spaces
  • Parks and Recreational Areas: Watering is scheduled for Mondays and Fridays, ensuring that public relaxation areas remain green and welcoming.

Prohibited Activities

  • No Watering During Rainfall: Automated systems must have rain sensors installed and turned on.
  • No Runoff or Overspray: Ensure that water does not run off onto sidewalks, driveways, or streets.
  • No Use of Potable Water for Cleaning Hard Surfaces: Use brooms or air blowers instead of hoses to clean sidewalks, driveways, and other hard surfaces.

Certain activities and areas are exempt from these restrictions, including:

  • New Lawns and Landscaping: Newly planted lawns and landscapes may be watered more frequently for the first 30 days after planting to establish roots.
  • Drip Irrigation and Hand-Watering: These methods are permitted at any time if done efficiently without runoff.
  • Essential Uses: Watering for health and safety reasons, including washing vehicles at commercial car washes, filling swimming pools, or using water for firefighting purposes, are exempt from these restrictions.

Violation Penalties

To ensure compliance, the City of Frisco will enforce the following penalties for violations:

  1. First Violation: A written notice and a request for compliance.
  1. Second Violation: A fine of up to $100.
  1. Third Violation: A fine of up to $500 and possible installation of a flow restrictor device.
  1. Further Violations: Increased fines and potential discontinuation of water service until compliance is ensured.

How You Can Help

Educating yourself and your community about these restrictions is crucial. Here are some ways you can contribute:

  • Fix Leaks Promptly: Even small leaks can lead to significant water waste over time.
  • Use Water-Efficient Fixtures: Consider installing low-flow showerheads, faucets, and other water-saving devices.
  • Practice Smart Landscaping: Use drought-resistant plants and grasses that require less water.
  • Stay Informed: Visit the City of Frisco’s official website or contact the local water department for more information and updates on water conservation efforts.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to preserving our water resources. By working together, we can ensure a sustainable and water-efficient future for the City of Frisco.
