2024 Water Restrictions for Parker, TX

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and resource management, the City of Parker, TX, has implemented water restrictions for 2024. These measures are designed to ensure a reliable water supply for all residents and to protect our natural resources. Below is a detailed guide to the new restrictions.

General Guidelines

Watering Schedule:

  1. Residential Properties:
    • Odd-numbered addresses: Watering permitted on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
    • Even-numbered addresses: Watering permitted on Thursdays and Sundays.
  2. Commercial Properties:
    • Watering permitted on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  3. Time Restrictions:
    • Watering is only allowed between 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM on designated days. This helps minimize water loss due to evaporation.
  4. Hand Watering:
    • Hand watering with a hose equipped with a shutoff nozzle is allowed at any time.
  5. New Landscaping:
    • Special permits are available for watering new lawns and landscaping. Please contact the Parker City Water Department for more information.

Prohibited Activities

  1. No Watering on Mondays:
    • No outdoor watering is permitted on Mondays to allow the water system to replenish.
  2. No Water Waste:
    • Watering that results in excess runoff or puddling in the streets, sidewalks, or driveways is prohibited.
  3. No Washing Hard Surfaces:
    • Washing driveways, sidewalks, and other hard surfaces with potable water is not allowed, except for safety or health reasons.
  4. Vehicle Washing:
    • Washing vehicles at home is only permitted using a hose with a shutoff nozzle or a bucket. Consider using commercial car washes that recycle water.

Exceptions

  • Drip Irrigation and Soaker Hoses:
    • These systems are exempt from the restrictions as they are highly efficient and reduce water waste.
  • Public Parks and Recreational Fields:
    • These areas may have different watering schedules to maintain public safety and usability. Check specific park regulations for details.

Enforcement and Penalties

  • First Violation:
    • Written warning issued.
  • Second Violation:
    • $50 fine.
  • Subsequent Violations:
    • Fines will increase incrementally by $50 for each additional violation.

How to Report Violations

Residents are encouraged to report any violations of the water restrictions to the Parker City Water Department. You can do so by:

    • Calling (555)
    • Emailing waterdepartment@parker.tx.gov
    • Using the online form available on the city’s website

Tips for Efficient Water Use

  1. Check for Leaks:
    • Regularly inspect your irrigation system and fixtures for leaks and repair them promptly.
  2. Use Mulch:
    • Applying mulch around plants helps retain soil moisture and reduce evaporation.
  3. Native Plants:
    • Incorporate drought-resistant and native plants into your landscaping to reduce the need for watering.
  4. Smart Controllers:
    • Consider installing a smart irrigation controller that adjusts watering schedules based on weather conditions.

We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to conserving water. Together, we can ensure that Parker, TX, remains a vibrant and sustainable community for future generations.
