As we enter the year 2024, the City of Blue Mound, TX is implementing new water restrictions to protect our local water supply and mitigate the effects of ongoing drought conditions. Outdoor Watering and Irrigation

• Watering Days: Residents and businesses are permitted to water outdoor landscapes only twice a week. Addresses ending in even numbers may water on Tuesdays and Saturdays, while odd-numbered addresses may water on Wednesdays and Sundays.

• Time of Day: Outdoor watering is restricted to the hours between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM, and then again from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM to minimize evaporation and maximize absorption.

• Duration: Limit each watering session to no more than 30 minutes per zone to prevent excessive use.

• Irrigation Systems: Ensure all sprinkler systems are properly maintained to avoid leaks and over-spraying onto non-landscaped areas such as sidewalks and driveways.

Car Washing

• At Home: Car washing at home is allowed on designated watering days using a bucket or a hose with a shut-off nozzle.

• Commercial Car Washes: Encourage the use of commercial car wash facilities that recycle water.

Pools and Spas

• Filling: Filling of new swimming pools, hot tubs, and spas is prohibited unless it’s for a newly constructed pool or spa that requires initial filling for structural integrity.

• Maintenance: Existing pools and spas may operate as usual, provided they are properly covered when not in use to reduce water evaporation.
