2024 Weatherford, TX Water Restrictions

In response to ongoing drought conditions and to ensure the sustainability of our water resources, the City of Weatherford has implemented a series of water restrictions for 2024. These measures are designed to conserve water and encourage residents to use this precious resource responsibly.

Watering Schedule

Outdoor watering with automatic irrigation systems or hose-end sprinklers is restricted based on the following schedule:

  • Odd-numbered addresses may water on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
  • Even-numbered addresses may water on Thursdays and Sundays.
  • No watering is allowed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

Watering is only permitted during the following times:

  • Between 12 midnight and 10 a.m.
  • Between 6 p.m. and 12 midnight

Prohibited Practices

To maximize water efficiency, the following practices are prohibited during the restriction period:

  • Washing driveways, sidewalks, and other impervious surfaces except for immediate health and safety concerns.
  • Using water in such a manner as to allow runoff onto other properties, streets, or sidewalks.
  • Operating ornamental fountains or ponds that do not recirculate water.

Exceptions

  • Handheld hose watering with a shut-off nozzle and the use of drip irrigation systems are permitted at any time.
  • Newly installed landscapes and lawns may be watered daily for up to 30 days from the date of installation, provided proper documentation is submitted to the city.
  • Public parks and athletic fields may be watered on different schedules as approved by the city.

Enforcement and Penalties

The City of Weatherford will actively monitor compliance with these water restrictions. Violations may result in the following penalties:

  • First Offense: Written warning
  • Second Offense: $50 fine
  • Third and Subsequent Offenses: $200 fine and potential installation of a flow restrictor device

Conservation Tips

Here are some ways you can help conserve water:

  • Fix leaks promptly in faucets, pipes, and toilets.
  • Use a broom instead of a hose to clean driveways and sidewalks.
  • Install water-efficient fixtures and appliances.
  • Collect rainwater for outdoor watering needs.
