2024 Water Restrictions in Sachse, TX

As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure sustainable water management, the city of Sachse, TX, has implemented a set of water restrictions for 2024. These measures are designed to conserve water resources and address the challenges posed by prolonged drought conditions. Below are the details of the restrictions, effective January 1, 2024.

Outdoor Watering Schedule

  • Even-numbered addresses: Outdoor watering is allowed on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
  • Odd-numbered addresses: Outdoor watering is allowed on Thursdays and Sundays.
  • Prohibited hours: Outdoor watering is not permitted between 10 AM and 6 PM to minimize evaporation losses.


  • Hand-held hoses: Residents may use hand-held hoses with automatic shut-off nozzles for watering at any time.
  • Drip irrigation systems: These are exempt from the restrictions but must be used efficiently and should not result in runoff.
  • New landscaping: Newly installed landscapes can be watered daily for the first 30 days after installation but only outside of the prohibited hours.

Restricted Activities

  • Washing vehicles: Allowed only on designated watering days using a hand-held hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle or a bucket.
  • Swimming pools: Filling new swimming pools or refilling existing ones is allowed only on designated watering days.
  • Fountains and water features: Use of decorative fountains and water features is prohibited unless they recirculate water.

Penalties for Non-compliance

Residents and businesses found in violation of these restrictions will be subject to fines. The penalty structure is as follows:

  • First violation: Written warning.
  • Second violation: $100 fine.
  • Third violation: $250 fine and potential installation of a flow restrictor.
  • Subsequent violations: $500 fine and installation of a flow restrictor at the owner’s expense.

  • Check for leaks: Regularly inspect your plumbing and irrigation systems for leaks and repair them promptly.
  • Water wisely: Water your lawn and garden early in the morning or late in the evening to reduce evaporation.

  • Native plants: Consider planting drought-resistant native plants that require less water to thrive.
