The water restrictions will be in effect from April 1, 2024, to October 31, 2024.
Key Restrictions
Outdoor Watering
- Days and Times: Outdoor watering with sprinklers or irrigation systems is permitted only on designated days between 6 PM and 10 AM to reduce evaporation.
- Even-numbered addresses: Watering allowed on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
- Odd-numbered addresses: Watering allowed on Wednesdays and Sundays.
- Prohibited Activities:
- Watering between 10 AM and 6 PM.
- Using water for non-essential purposes such as washing down sidewalks, driveways, and other hard surfaces.
- Filling or refilling swimming pools and spas except on designated watering days.
Exceptions
- Hand-watering with a handheld hose or watering can is allowed at any time.
- Drip irrigation systems and soaker hoses may be used at any time.
- Newly planted landscapes and lawns may be watered daily for up to 30 days following planting.
Commercial and Public Properties
- Must adhere to the same watering schedule as residential properties.
- Golf courses, parks, and sports fields are required to minimize water usage and conform to scheduled watering times.
Enforcement and Penalties
The City of Krum takes water conservation seriously. Violations of these restrictions will result in the following penalties:
- First Violation: Written warning.
- Second Violation: $100 fine.
- Subsequent Violations: Fines up to $500 per violation and potential installation of water flow restrictors.
