2024 Meadows Place TX Water Restrictions

In response to decreased rainfall and increasing water conservation needs, Meadows Place, TX, is implementing new water restrictions for 2024. These measures are designed to ensure a sustainable water supply for our community.

General Water Use Guidelines

Effective from: January 1, 2024

Outdoor Watering

  • Allowed Days: Outdoor watering with an automated system or hose-end sprinkler is permitted only on designated days.
  • Odd-Numbered Addresses: Water on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
  • Even-Numbered Addresses: Water on Thursdays and Sundays.
  • Prohibited Hours: No watering between 10 AM and 6 PM to reduce water loss due to evaporation.
  • Hand Watering: Allowed any day but must use a hand-held hose, drip irrigation, or soaker hose.

Restrictions on Specific Activities

  • Vehicle Washing: Allowed only on weekends. Must use a hose equipped with a shut-off nozzle.
  • Pools and Spas: Filling new pools or refilling existing pools is prohibited except with special permission. Cover pools when not in use to minimize water loss.
  • Fountains & Water Features: Operation of ornamental fountains or other decorative water features is prohibited unless they recirculate water.

Exceptions and Special Permits

  • New Landscaping: Newly planted landscapes may be watered more frequently for the first 30 days with a special permit.
  • Commercial Nurseries: Exempt from restrictions but encouraged to follow best practices to conserve water.

Penalties for Non-Compliance

To enforce these restrictions, the city will impose fines for violations:

  • First Violation: Warning issued.
  • Second Violation: $50 fine.
  • Subsequent Violations: $100 fine per occurrence.

How to Report a Violation

Residents can report water restriction violations through the Meadows Place city website or by calling the city’s Water Conservation Hotline at 281-940-2955.

Tips for Water Conservation

  • Use Native Plants: Choose drought-resistant native plants which require less water.
  • Mulch: Mulch around plants to retain moisture.
  • Fix Leaks: Regularly check and repair leaks in irrigation systems, hoses, and faucets.
