Due to ongoing drought conditions and the need to conserve our water resources, the City of Fresno, TX is implementing mandatory water restrictions for all residents, local businesses, and municipal employees. These measures aim to ensure a sustainable water supply for everyone.

Who is Affected?

  • Residents: Homeowners and renters within Fresno city limits.
  • Local Businesses: All commercial establishments, including retail stores, restaurants, and office buildings.
  • Municipal Employees: City workers responsible for maintaining public parks, streets, and facilities.

Watering Schedule

To effectively manage and conserve water, the following watering schedule has been established:

  • Even-Numbered Addresses: Water on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • Odd-Numbered Addresses: Water on Mondays and Thursdays.
  • No Watering: Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays are designated no-watering days.

Time Restrictions

Watering is only allowed between the hours of 6 AM to 10 AM and 7 PM to 10 PM on designated days. This helps minimize evaporation and ensures water is used efficiently.

Prohibited Activities

To further support water conservation efforts, the following activities are prohibited:

  • Washing Vehicles: Washing vehicles at home is not allowed. Please use commercial car washes that recycle water.
  • Hosing Down Driveways and Sidewalks: Use a broom or blower to clean hard surfaces.
  • Filling Pools: The filling of new or existing swimming pools is restricted. Contact the city for guidelines and exceptions.

Tips for Saving Water

Here are some effective ways to reduce water usage:

  • Fix Leaks: Regularly check and repair any leaks in faucets, toilets, and irrigation systems.
  • Install Low-Flow Fixtures: Use low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators.
  • Mulch Landscaping: Mulching helps retain soil moisture and reduces the need for frequent watering.

Enforcement and Penalties

Compliance with these water restrictions is mandatory. Violations will result in the following penalties:

  • First Violation: Written warning and education on water restrictions.
  • Second Violation: $50 fine.
  • Third Violation: $200 fine and possible installation of a flow restrictor.
